Laura Oppelt

It started with a cheap camera from the discounter, then turned into a big part of my life - photography. My name is Laura, I'm a self-taught landscape and nature photographer from Southern Germany.

Grown up in the countryside and not too far from the mountains, I've enjoyed being outdoors and discovering nature ever since. Over the years, landscape photography became my biggest passion. Especially wild and raw places fascinate me deeply, be it the fjords and coastlines of Norway, the Faroe Islands, or the German Alps on my doorstep. I’m also drawn to some of the most remote and untouched regions on Earth, such as Patagonia and Namibia.

Through my photography I want to share my appreciation for nature and for adventure.
I also share my knowledge and experience as a workshop guide for PhotoPills and Fokus Naturfotografie. I’m always looking for unusual perspectives and special light, and the work in the field matters as much to me as the careful editing afterward.

Alongside my photography, I study Geography at the University of Bonn, with an earlier 7-month-period at the University of Bergen, Norway. Geography helps me better understand the landscapes I photograph, from how they form to the processes that keep changing them.
